Embracing Inclusion
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, nearly 13 percent of young people ages 6 to 14 have a disability (2001). Unfortunately, many of these young people have limited access to after-school programs that provide engaging, enjoyable opportunities for social and personal development. Boys & Girls Clubs of El Paso, in partnership with El Paso Community College and with assistance from Volar Center for Independent Living recently screened Dan Habib’s award winning film: Including Samuel. Olga Chavez, Director of the Diversity Department at El Paso Community College facilitated this free event and Dr. Richard M. Rhodes, President of the college welcomed the group in attendance. Dan Habib addressed the audience via phone conference and provided background for this important film.
